At E.H. Vaage General Store & Steamship Agency we hold on to what is real, what is close – and what has tasted good for generations. Our open sandwiches are made with care, butter on the bread and a glimpse of history in every bite.
A slice of good bread – preferably wholegrain, spread with butter – carries flavours people have treasured since grandmother was young: herring and egg, liver pâté with crispy bacon, roast beef and remoulade – or our smoked and cured trout with egg salad and dill. Every bite is a small piece of culture, served with the scent of coffee in the air and old wooden floors underfoot, or perhaps a little nook to sit in.
We believe in what lasts, and that a good food experience starts with respect for the craft. That is why the sandwich gets the time it needs – both on the plate and around the table.
Welcome in. We keep the taste of the past alive, with our hearts in the present.
From 23 May to 10 August:
